Hello, I'm Lucy, the founder of tabuu.
Following a Whipple surgery to remove a pancreatic cancer at the age of 25, I was told I'd need to take up to 20 tablets a day for life.
Going back to social settings with a new invisible disability and a bag full of tablets took a little getting used to. I found myself apologising for having to take my medication in public and receiving awkward comments which I wasn't quite sure how to respond to.
I set out on a mission to find a thoughtfully designed, stylish pill case that would compliment my busy lifestyle.
I searched the media for open discussion around medication to represent me and the millions of people around the world who take it.
I found neither. So, wearing a suit I borrowed from a friend and looking a little like a budget version of the Leonardo Di Caprio meme, I've decided to have a go at building a brand to be part of the solution for the millions of people like me, who deserve a hell of a lot better.
Here's to anyone who's sick of broken pill packets, plastic cases and feeling like there are not products designed for their lifestyle.
Here's to anyone who's ever received an ignorant comment about their medical aid or felt they needed to apologise for needing a bit of support.
And here's to building a brand that aims to remove the stigma around medication by starting the conversations we're too uncomfortable to have. Because it's about time someone did.
